In my travels as a computer technician I’ve had to set up plenty of modems and routers for people. One of the hardest parts of doing this was finding the correct settings to put in. Every ISP has different settings, and every modem/router manufacturer has the settings hidden in different locations in their firmware.

I can’t give you every setting for every ISP on every possible router, but what I can give you is the settings that each ISP requires. Just click one of the buttons below for whichever ISP you want the settings for. This is by no means a complete list, and it will be added to over time, but these are currently the most popular ISP’s in New Zealand so I thought I would get these ones done first.

Most ISP’s will help you with your modem only if it was supplied by them. If you require assistance, you’ll need to get in touch with your modem manufacturer. Some common modem vendors are listed below:

ASUS – www.asus.com/nz/ – 0800 278 788

Linksys – www.linksys.com/nz/ – 0800 441 528

Cisco – www.cisco.com – 0800 291 129

D-Link – www.dlink.co.nz – 0800 900 900

Netgear – www.netgear.co.nz – 0800 174 600

If you are not able to configure your non ISP-supplied modem with the help of the vendor, please your ISP and they’ll see what they can do to help.
